The Wonders of the Weizmann Tree Lab
On Monday 9 December, we were delighted to be joined by Prof. Tamir Klein at the Royal College of Physicians for our Annual Lecture, The Wonders of the Weizmann Tree Lab.
Tamir gave a fascinating overview of the work of the unique Weizmann Tree Lab, shared some of the greatest challenges posed by climate change and enlightened the audience on the vital role that trees and forests have to play in providing resilience from climate-related threats. We were fortunate too to have Prof. Alan Dangour, Director of Climate and Health at Wellcome to introduce and moderate the evening.
However, it was the extraordinary range of insightful questions from our audience that really brought the evening to life. Tamir was able to provide answers from the frontier of eco-physiology research and gave a real sense that the Weizmann Institute is fully committed to finding scientific solutions to this global challenge.
With mounting evidence that changes in the environment are affecting us all, and so many unanswered questions as to what that means for life on earth, the Institute for Environmental Sustainability is crucial in facing this problem head-on.
