Arnon named first woman to lead Israel Academy of Sciences

World-renowned immunologist Prof. Ruth Arnon of the Weizmann Institute has been named the new – and first woman – president of the Israel Academy of Sciences and the Humanities, since 1961 the government’s official adviser on science and planning of civilian research. At the end of April, this Israeli professor traveled to Philadelphia's Franklin Institute to accept the 2010 Benjamin Franklin Medal in Computer and Cognitive Science for her fundamental contributions to cryptography theory, the basis of techniques for encoding anything from secret messages to financial information on the Internet. Ontario Premier visits the Weizmann Institute

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty said he would create a new position of provincial chief scientist after his visit to the Weizmann Institute of Science.
