Please join us for an evening lecture with Prof. Michael Walker of the Weizmann Institute and Prof. Stephanie Amiel of King’s College, London as they discuss their latest research in the area of juvenile diabetes.

Speaker biographies
Prof. Michael Walker, Weizmann Institute of Science
Prof. Walker is currently studying the role of pancreatic cells in the production of insulin and how this can be applied in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes. He earned his B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry at Glasgow University, and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Life Sciences from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. After completing his postdoctoral work at the University of California in San Francisco in 1987, he returned to the Department of Biological Chemistry of the Weizmann Institute.
Prof. Stephanie Amiel, Kings College, London
Prof. Amiel is currently Professor of Diabetic Medicine at King's College, London. After training at Guys Hospital, Prof Amiel practised for five years in clinical posts before starting research in a fellowship at Yale University and then returning to England. Professor Amiel has received BDA grants for several projects including research into growth hormones, reversing asymptomatic hypoglycaemia and hypoglycaemia in type 2 diabetes.
